Looking after Themselves
HELP WITH LOOKING AFTER THEMSELVES
Some children have difficulties with activities of daily living including dressing, tying shoelaces, using cutlery, toileting and getting washed.
DRESSING
This page will give you helpful information on how to support your child with getting dressed.
USING CUTLERY
Many children struggle to use cutlery, take a look at our activities to help improve cutlery skills.
SHOELACES
Shoelaces are best learned using a forward chaining method. This technique is useful as you are in effect teaching a series of knots and so your hands don’t have to perform as many different moves.
PERSONAL CARE
This page gives examples of activities for children to learn how to wipe themselves when toileting
AGES & STAGES
All children develop the skills to play differently. Take a look at this page to see information on the typical milestone for each age stage.
