- Getting Ready for Primary School
- Help your child feel prepared for school by:
- Talking about school – Share the fun and exciting things they can expect in the classroom.
- Practicing the routine – Try out the journey to school ahead of time and point out interesting landmarks along the way.
- Practical Skills for School
- There are several useful skills your child can practice to make their school day easier:
- Recognising their name – It’s helpful so your child can keep track of their belongings and to help support their own independence by finding their name on their peg and books.
- Using the bathroom independently – Being able to use the restroom and wash their hands afterward will boost their independence and reduce the chance of accidents.
- Dressing themselves – Being able to get dressed and undressed on their own will be especially useful when it’s time for PE
