All of our children and young people services are reopen, following service suspension due to deployment earlier this year. As you will appreciate, we have a large backlog of work due to the recent Covid suspensions and our staff are working hard to review all children as soon as they can. Services will be prioritising their caseloads and you will be contacted when we are able to offer your child an appointment. Most of our services offer a blend of virtual and face to face appointments, dependent on clinical need.
Therapy services restart progress:
- Speech and language therapy – preschool communication clinics and therapy blocks have restarted. Mainstream school visits have resumed. New assessments and treatment blocks for mainstream school children are being worked through. Special school therapy and dysphagia patients continue to receive their usual service
- Occupational therapy – initial appointments and parent workshops for children with sensory difficulties have resumed. Preschool children and older children with equipment have been prioritised for reviews . assessments for coordination or fine motor difficulties have resumed.
- Physiotherapy – orthotics and lycra clinics are running as usual. Children with neurological conditions are receiving reviews and those children who will be transferring into or between schools in September are being prioritised this term. We continue to assess all new high priority referrals . Initial assessments for gait concerns will be resuming in August and appointment letters for these will be coming out in the next few weeks.
