One example is giving a little bit of a favourite snack and waiting for your child to indicate they want more. If they look at you or indicate somehow that they want more, model the word and maybe the sign for more and then give them more. This way you’re acknowledging their communication but also providing them with the word that accompanies it. You could do something similar with blowing bubbles – you blow the bubbles and then wait for them to indicate they want more. You could place the bubbles on the floor (if they can’t open them by themselves) and see what they do. If they pick it up, put your hands out to see if they will give it to you / they may pull your hand towards bubbles.
