• Children with dysphagia are split into ‘risk’ categories. Red = high risk. Purple = moderate risk. Blue = low risk. No risk.
  • All staff who have had formal dysphagia training from SALT team, (such as this webinar) in the last year can feed any child.
  • Staff who have had this training in the past two years can feed purple, blue and no risk children.
  • Any one can feed blue or no risk children although we would recommend that all staff access regular dysphagia training.
  • Supervision ratios. Those with a red or purple risk levelshould be fed on a 1:1 basis. Those on blue risk level can be fed 1:2.
  •  Staff must be aware of child’s specific feeding requirements (i.e. have seen their Eating and Drinking Guidelines) and follow them
